Congresbury corps was opened by the corps at Yatton in June 1893. The War Cry report of 10 June 1893 mentions the opening, and their prayer at the "Lord, give us souls". This report was sent in from a William Greenland, who may have been the officer or one of the soldiers. The Kelly's Directory of Somerset and Gloucestershire of 1897 records that the Salvation Army has a "temporary meeting place" in Congresbury.
