Croydon Citadel Songsters

History Of The Songsters
At the heart of everything that takes place at Croydon Citadel is the spiritual motivation found in the Christian gospel. This is certainly true for the Croydon Citadel Songsters who have developed a fine reputation over many years. As the senior choir they regularly participate in Sunday Services. In addition to giving concerts at Croydon Citadel and other local churches, they also sing at the famous Fairfield halls at Christmas time and in a summer concert.
The present leader , Mark Ingram, was appointed in 1993. The present membership of nearly 50 men and women come from a variety of different backgrounds and include teachers, nurses, housewives, secretaries, students and senior managers and too many others to mention.
One notable recent highlight in the Songster's history was a visit to Denmark and Sweden in Easter 2001. There were many special moments including singing outside the Royal Palace in Copenhagen and presenting concerts Malmö, Norrköping, Jönköping and Lidköping. The Easter Sunday morning meeting in Göteborg was broadcast live on local cable TV. The final concert in the beautiful church of Örkelljunga was perhaps the main highpoint because this was in the home village of Elisabet Lyne our piano accompanist and Deputy Songster Leader.
