Lucy Booth

Lucy, born in 1868, was the fifth daughter of William and Catherine Booth and followed the family tradition and entered Army work at an early age, following Emma to India at age 16. She left with the Booth-Tuckers, and on 18 Oct 1894, married a Swedish officer, Colonel Emanuel Daniel Booth-Hellberg.
Lucy returned to India with her new husband and they together commanded the Indian Territory, taking on the names Ruhani and Raj-Singh respectively. They were appointed to France and Switzerland in 1896.
Lucy claims a place among Army songwriters for "Keep On Believing". Upon her husband's death in 1909, she served as territorial commander in Denmark, Norway, and South America before her retirement in 1934. For her accomplishments she was admitted to the Order of the Founder. "Commissioner Lucy" was promoted to Glory in 1953 at the age of 85.
