About The Band
Romford Citadel band was formed in 1894 with ten men and two boys this was under the leadership of Bandmaster Taylor. Benjamin Goldsmith was the Bandmaster in 1921 when the Band was presented with their first complete set of new instruments total cost £650.00. The BB Bass was inscibed with the names of four bandsman A. Dodman, C. Dodman, W. Wilson and L. Wood who were killed in the first World War.
The band over many years have provided music for many civic and community events these include the annual Remembrance Day Parade and St. Georges Day Parade. Over the year the band has had the privilege to take part on the Lord Mayor's show in the City of London.
Further a field, the band often travels to other parts of Great Britain giving concerts and leading worship at Salvation Army Centres. The band has also had the opportunity to visit Holland under the leadership of Bandmaster Ronald Joice in 1987 and again under the leadership of Bandmaster Stephen Denniss in 1994.
Always looking for new ways of communicating their message through music, the band have appeared on the television and on various radio broadcasts over the years.
