Did you know that The Salvation Army has its own Insurance Company?

The Salvation Army General Insurance Corporation Limited (known as SAGIC) has been serving The Salvation Army since 1909.

The organisation was originally set up as The Salvation Army Fire Insurance Corporation to cater for its insurance needs, particularly to cover the many properties, corps, halls, hostels, charity shops etc., which the Army purchased for meetings and charity work. The name was changed to its current form in 1980.

In addition to looking after the insurance needs of The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom, SAGIC also offers affordable House & Home, Travel and Motor Insurances to the public with special schemes for Salvation Army Officers, Cadets, Members and Employees.

However, it does not offer gimmicks or make extravagant claims to reduce your insurance premium. Their aim is to offer affordable insurance from an ethical insurer with the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you support the needy not the greedy. Because SAGIC is owned by The Salvation Army, at least 75% of its profits go back to The Salvation Army to help in its work with the homeless and disadvantaged - not to wealthy shareholders.

SAGIC is a member of the ABI (Association of British Insurers) and the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) and is authorised and regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority).
