Overview
SAWiki is an on-line encyclopedia covering all aspects of The Salvation Army. Not only can you find a wealth of information relating to the Salvation Army but you can also contribute your own as well.
If you wish to edit pages and/or make new new pages you will need to sign up for a free account. You can do this by clicking the create account link in the top right of this page.
If you have any problems using this site please visit our help pages. Remember, if you're at all nervous about editing the SAWiki you can test your submissions out in the sandbox first before editing or creating pages
About the SAWiki project
SAWiki is the sister site of SA Collectables and is run by the same two people! Our aim is to compile the largest online, human edited resource for all things Salvation Army.
Things To Do
Unregistered Users
- As an unregistered user you can look around and freely make use of the information you find so long as this falls within the guidelines of the License agreement but you will not be able to edit pages or create new pages.
Registered Users
- As a registered user there's much more to do.
- Not only can you freely make use of the information on the site as stated above, but you can also edit exisiting pages and add new ones.
- It might look a bit daunting at first but with a little practice you'll be editing wiki code in no time.
- Every article has its own discussion page where you can ask questions, make suggestions, or discuss corrections. To access this page just click the discussion tab at the top of the page you want to talk about.
How You Can Help
Be bold! Have a go. We promise not to get cross if you're coding isn't up to scratch and there's a nice formatting bar to help you out which contains basic stuff at the click of a mouse. If you think you have something to offer SAWiki then add it. All you need is a free account which, if you don't already have you can get here
- Now, while we want you to feel encouraged to add your knowledge to SAWiki please, don't be reckless. By all means, add facts, dates, correct spelling and grammar should you find any errors. Do, however, keep in mind that you are editing someone elses work. Deleting large sections of someone's hard work without reason, just to replace it with your own is bad form. If the page you wanted to add already exists, see if there is anything you can add to expand that page, but be cautious in your editing of others work.
- If you've got enough information to make a whole page that's terrific! Come this way, add it to SAWiki. Instructions for adding new pages can be found here
- Even if you don't think your information is complete, that's OK, that's what SAWiki is all about. You add what you've got and other users expand on that knowledge. Sure, some people submit perfectly polished articles, which is fantastic, but the beauty of this, and all other wikis, is that often a poorly written first draft will evolve into a polished, and concise article through collaberation between editors.
