The Staple Hill corps opened fire on 13 October 1883, as an outreach from the Fishponds corps. In 1884 the corps met in the "new SA Barracks" in Staple Hill Road.
On 4 July 1991, a charity shop was opened at 64 Broad Street, Staple Hill.
