I am a third-generation Salvationist - my maternal grand-father came from Clydebank corps, and my maternal grand-mother was from Cradley Heath corps.

I am the son of Salvation Army officers, and I was born when they were stationed at Pendlebury. Their appointments after my birth were to Crabbs Cross, Birmingham Small Heath, Tipton. Wolverhampton Citadel, Kidderminster, Stroud, Tewkesbury and Tamworth.
